Research interests

My research interests include a quite wide range of problems related to linguistic typology. Some of the main topics are as follows:

  • typology and areal typology of discourse particles of Europe and Asia
  • the problem of the "word" and the boundaries of morphology and syntax in typology
  • the distribution of genealogical and areal factors in the structure of languages ("distributive" typology)
  • typology of the categories of verbs
  • languages of the circum-Baltic area
  • languages of the Mediterranean region and the Balkans
  • areal phenomena in northern Eurasia
  • Buryat language
  • Greek language and dialects
  • Romance languages and Latin language
