These articles represent Alpatov's main scientific pursuits, including Japanese studies, typology and theory of language, sociolinguistics, and history of linguistics. The final section of the collection, titled Linguistic Problems, features a set of problems composed by Vladimir Alpatov for linguistic Olympiads.
