Vitaly Nuriev worked as Senior Researcher at the Institute of Linguistics, Russian Academy of Sciences.
His primary research interests lie in literary translation. He has published on various aspects of literary and machine translation, corpus linguistics and theories of knowledge creation. His current focus is on the role and influence of literary translation in contemporary Russia. In 2015, he became a nominee for the Moscow Government Prize for young researchers.
He also translates from French and English. In 2017, his translation of Neil Gaiman’s The Ocean at the End of the Lane was nominated for the Yasnaya Polyana Prize. He is a member of Maurice Wachsmacher Prize jury (Prize for the best translation from French into Russian). In 2018, he has got a fellowship in literary translation from the Association for the Promotion of Literary Translation (ATLAS, Arles, France) and the Institute of Translation (Moscow, Russia).
