“Journal of Psycholinguistics”

The journal is registered in the Federal Supervision Agency for Information Technologies and Communications (certificate ПИ № ФС 77-38423 dated 14.12.2009)

ISSN 2077-5911 (print), 2658-6908 (online)

In 2009, the journal was included in the list of the leading peer-reviewed scientific journals recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission for publication of thesis results.

The journal is included in the Russian Science Citation Index.

The journal is available in the Scientific Electronic Library.

The "Journal of Psycholinguistics" was established by the Institute of Linguistics in 2003 as an official journal of the Russian psycholinguistic community.

The journal replaced regular collections of articles published since 1970 by the Sector of Psycholinguistics and Communication Theory in the Institute of Linguistics, Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Now the journal is being published by the Department of Psycholinguistics, Institute of Linguistics, Russian Academy of Sciences.

The first editorial board was headed by Doctor of Psychology and Philology, Professor Alexei A. Leontiev.

At present the chief editor is Doctor of Philology, Professor Evgeni F. Tarasov.

In 2009, the Moscow Institute of Linguistics was registered as a co-founder of the journal.

According to the Russian Science Citation Index, the journal belongs to the list of the most quoted Russian linguistic journals.

The "Journal of Psycholinguistics" publishes articles with results of recent theoretical and experimental studies on various aspects of psycholinguistics and related disciplines. It also presents scientific surveys and reviews, academic life news and articles of young researchers.

On-line versions of all issues are available on the website of the Institute of Linguistics.

Since 2014 the "Journal of Psycholinguistics" is to be published four times a year in a new layout.

EDITORIAL POLICY

The journal publishes scientific articles mainly on the problems of speech activity and language consciousness, as well as the results of studies in related disciplines made with the help of psycholinguistic methods or considered in the psycholinguistic aspect. The publication is aimed primarily at psycholinguistic scientists, as well as specialists in philological and humanities profiles.

The mission of the magazine is coverage and wide discussion of the latest achievements of Russian and foreign psycholinguistics and the development of scientific cooperation of psycholinguistic scientists, psycholinguistic schools in Russia and other countries.

The main purpose of the journal is to create a broad dialogical platform for specialists in philological and related disciplines. The formation of an appropriate information context promotes a deep understanding of language processes in modern global society

The languages of the publication are Russian and English.

The preferred format of publication is a full-volume article (40,000 printed characters). In addition, the journal publishes essays, interviews, critical reviews, reviews, information about scientific events.

GUIDELINES TO PREPARING AND SUBMITTING A MANUSCRIPT

The authors who provide manuscripts to the editorial staff of the “Journal of Psycholinguistics” should follow the publication rules. See Publication Ethics.

Papers should be submitted either in printed and electronic format or sent to the e-mail editorial-vpl@yandex.ru.

An attached file, separate from the paper, should contain the following information about the author(s):

  • name and surname;
  • academic degree;
  • academic title;
  • place of work;
  • position;
  • business and personal address;
  • telephone number;
  • e-mail address which will be published in the journal.

Papers are reviewed and selected. The result of the review and selection process is announced to the author at the addresses or by the telephones provided in the submission form.

The editorial board is responsible for prioritizing papers which receive a favourable review.

Publications are free.
 

CONTENT AND STRUCTURE REQUIREMENTS

Papers should include:

  • title (capitalized, boldfaced, centered);
  • author’s name and surname (small letters, boldfaced, centered);
  • summary in Russian (up to 200 words);
  • key words in Russian (5-7 words);
  • title and the author’s name and surname in English (small letters, boldfaced, centered);
  • summary in English (up to 200 words);
  • key words in English (5-7 words).

The text of the paper should contain:

  1. Introduction with a brief account of the background and rationale of the work.
  2. Main body (it may contain a few short subheadings).
  3. Conclusion putting the main findings and their value for the field.
  4. References.

FORMATTING

Papers should not exceed 40,000 symbols.

Our preferred format for text is Microsoft Word. We prefer the use of 12-point Times New Roman. Format – А4; margin – 2,5 cm; paragraph break – 1,25 cm; space between lines – 1,5 cm. Pages should not be numbered.
 

TABLES

Tables should be only used for presenting data which cannot be stated in the text.
Words in tables are typed in its full forms.
Table and cell titles do not take full stops.
 

REFERENCES

References are each numbered, ordered alphabetically. Please use 12-point Times New Roman, single space.
In the body of the text please use the following format: [Name year: page(s)] (e.g. [Ivanov 2000: 18]).

REVIEW OF ARTICLES

All articles received are sent to the scientific review to a member of the editorial board or an independent expert on the recommendation of a member of the editorial board.

Not reviewed:

- Articles of full members and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences if the correspondent member is the only or the first author of the publication;

- Articles reviewed by scientific, technical, methodological councils of scientific organizations and higher educational institutions having a written certificate of the council recommending the publication.

The reviewer of an article cannot be from the same scientific or educational institutions as the author of the article.

Reviewers are notified that the sent articles are the private property of the authors and are reportedly not subject to disclosure. Reviewers are not allowed to make copies of articles for their needs.

The review shall be conducted confidentially. The author of the article under review can be given an opportunity to see the review if the author disagrees with the conclusions of the reviewer.

The breach of confidentiality is possible if the reviewer has found some falsification of the materials in the article.

The reviewer makes a decision of the publication within 45 days.

The editorial board e-mails the authors of the results of the review.

If the article requires corrections, it is sent to the author for revision. In this case the application date is the date of receiving the corrected version.

In case of disagreement with the reviewer the author can give a reasonable response to the journal. The article can be re-reviewed.

The decision on the publication after the second review is made by the editor-in-chief or if necessary by the editorial board.

If the review is positive, the editor-in-chief determines the order of publications on the basis of the theme of the journal.

The editorial board assumes no obligations under the terms of publication.
