Employed at the Institute of Linguistics since 2010.
Research interests: phraseology (form variations and changes in the meaning of idioms, author's idiomatics) in a comparative aspect (based on the material of Slavic and Germanic languages), lexical semantics, terminology, translation theory and practice, constructed languages.
Pavel Dronov was born in 1984 in Kursk. In 2006 he graduated from the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the Kursk State University.
2006 – 2009 – he studied at the graduate school of the V.V.Vinogradov Russian Academy of Sciences under the supervision of Dmitry Dobrovolsky (PhD, Dr.habil.).
2010 – Ph.D. thesis «Vvod opredelenija v strukturu idiomy: o semantičeskoj obuslovlennosti leksiko-sintaksičeskix modifikacij idiom (na materiale russkogo, anglijskogo i nemeckogo jazykov)» [Input of a definition into the structure of an idiom: about the semantic conditionality of lexical and syntactic modifications of idioms (based on the records of Russian, English and German languages)], specialisation 10.02.19 – "Theory of language".
Pavel Dronov is the author of more than 70 scientific publications and the textbook "General Lexicology".
His researches received financial support from the following scientific foundations: Russian Foundation for Humanities, Russian Science Foundation (RSF), the Council for Grants of the President of the Russian Federation.
He made reports at international conferences and workshops in Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, France, Spain, China. Pavel is also a member of the Organizing committee of 3 conferences.
Member of the editorial board of the periodical digest of articles (since 2020 – journal) "Lingvistika i metodika prepodavanija inostrannyh jazykov", [Linguistics and methods of teaching foreign languages], 2 editions – 2010, 2020.
Member of the editorial board of the digest "Ritual v jazyke i kommunikacii" [Custom in language and communication] (2013).
Pavel conducts classes on the preparation of graduate students for the qualifying examinations for the Candidate degree (English) in the following specialisations:
- 01.01.07 — Calculus mathematics;
- 01.02.01 — Theoretical mechanics;
- 01.06.01 — Mathematics and mechanics;
- 03.06.01 — Physics and astronomy;
- 05.13.01 — System analysis, management and information processing;
- 05.13.11 — Mathematical and software support for computers, complexes and computer networks.
He reads the course “Lexicology. Semantics" as a part of the preparation of graduate students for the qualifying examinations for the Candidate degree in the following specialisations:

- 10.02.05 — Romanic languages;
- 10.02.19 — Theory of language;
