Yulia Dreyzis is an associate professor at the Institute of Asian and African Studies of Lomonosov Moscow State University, a member of the board of the European Association for Chinese Studies (from 2014 till 2020), translator of contemporary Chinese literature and classic Chinese texts on tea culture, creator of Stiho(t)vorye, a blog dedicated to Chinese poetry, winner of the "Poetry East West" magazine prize in the category "Translation of contemporary Chinese poetry" (2015), winner of the annual Chinese award in the category "Translation of contemporary poetry" (2016), director of the 10th International Moscow Poetry Biennale, author of several courses on contemporary Chinese cinema and the history of Chinese.
Yulia Dreyzis obtained her BA and MA degrees in linguistics at the Institute of Asian and African Studies of Lomonosov State University of Moscow. She did internships at Central China Normal University in Wuhan in 2005–2006 and at National Chengchi University 國立政治大學 in Taiwan in 2015.
In 2014, Yulia Dreyzis defended her PhD thesis on Chinese avant-garde literature. A year later, in 2015, she published a complete annotated translation of Yu Hua's "Brothers".
Yulia Dreyzis's research interests lie in the field of translation studies, namely poetic translation of contemporary pieces. Her poetry blog, Stiho(t)vorye, is dedicated to contemporary Chinese poetry of the last 30 years. Yulia Dreyzis's translations were published in the "Translit" literary journal. In 2015, her translations were also presented at an annual Vers Libre Festival in Moscow.
